Berliner Kompositionspreis: A Successful Third Edition at SONARLOFT

Following its successful third edition, the Berliner Kompositionspreis continues to build its reputation as a regular fixture in the contemporary music scene. Presented within our SONARLOFT concert series at Kühlhaus Berlin, the prize provides a platform for new musical voices and international exchange.

The Main Prize in this year’s Duo Edition was awarded to Mykhailo Kozyriatskyi, also known as Michael Kraft. The two Encouragement Prizes went to Adi Shapiro and Philipp Manuel Gutmann.

Together with my colleagues violinist Wojciech Garbowski and cellist Konstantin Manaev, I shape SONARLOFT and the Berliner Kompositionspreis with a shared commitment to bringing outstanding chamber music and new works to audiences.

Our special thanks go to the Stiftung am Grunewald, which provides the prize money, and to Bösendorferand Kühlhaus Berlin for their support.

With SYMPHONIACS in China – Where Classical Music Meets the Present

The meeting of classical instruments and electronic sound takes me to a wide variety of stages with SYMPHONIACS. In September and October, I travelled to China with the ensemble, with performances in Shanghai and Wuhan among the stops on our journey.

Travelling also brings a fresh perspective to my own musical work. Performing in a different cultural setting and experiencing an audience’s immediate response are among the most rewarding aspects of an international concert life.

With SYMPHONIACS, the precision of chamber music meets the energy of electronic music. As a pianist, I am particularly drawn to the versatility of my role: carrying melodic lines, shaping rhythmic momentum and bringing together the ensemble’s contrasting instrumental colours.

Our concerts in China offered an opportunity to continue this musical dialogue with audiences far from our European home. Equally memorable are the impressions gathered between performances: encounters, conversations and the discovery of cities whose distinctive rhythms become part of the journey.

My thanks go to everyone who welcomed us, attended the concerts and supported us behind the scenes. I am pleased to share a few impressions from the trip with you here .
